PE

Target: To use PE funding to enhance learning and opportunities for all pupils and to raise confidence and skills of staff.

  1. To improve playground facilities and equipment and provide greater sporting opportunities for all pupils

  • Playground resurfaced to ensure sports and play can be carried out safely
  • Safety matting laid in designated areas

All staff during playground duties, lunch times and PE Lessons.

Monitor incidents in the playground and evaluate using the accident book.

Equipment used to support fitness in place

  • Make bid to Lottery for outdoor ‘gym’ equipment
  • Due to limited space in the playground we aim to introduce different activities that all children can access.
  • We have quotes for extra playground equipment.  We are unable to proceed until the resurfacing of the playground (Easter 2016).

Bid submitted March 2016 – awaiting outcome.

Staff to ensure children know how to use the new equipment safely.

Clear permanent markings for designated sports, activities and play area

  • Playground is remarked with a variety of courts / lines to allow games and activities to take place

All staff to be consulted about appropriate marking to ensure that all age ranges are catered for.

£2000.  As soon as the playground is resurfaced.

It is anticipated that children will be more engaged in playground games and there will be less incidents of bad behaviour.  Staff to monitor.

Wide range of activities available at play times and in PE lessons

  • Resources and equipment purchased and installed to broaden opportunities and ensure safe agility areas are available.

All staff were consulted about appropriate equipment for the limited space we have available.

Staff will monitor behaviour and children’s well- being to see if it improves when the new equipment is installed.

Monitoring:     Headteacher monitors spending and improved opportunities and reports to PE Governor and Curriculum Group

Evaluating:      Through visits and meetings PE Governor evaluates the effectiveness of spending and reports to Full Governing Body on a termly basis

 

 

  1. To improve the confidence and skills of staff to deliver high quality sport

Staff will feel able to offer a wider variety of clubs.

Ensure staff receive the appropriate training to give them the necessary skills to provide high quality PE both in school time and for after school clubs and residential visits.

Staff have been trained in First Aid, Cycling, Outdoor Leader, Swimming,  Healthy Schools Cooking

To show pupils and parents what activities and clubs are able to participate in after school and at weekends thus encouraging a healthier lifestyle.

  • In 2016-2017 we aim to invite a variety of sporting clubs into school to enable the children to know what is available locally as after school activities.  We also plan to visit different sporting venues with the local area.
