Lanivet School Staff
Your first point of contact at Lanivet will be our welcoming office staff - Mrs Cackett, Mrs Pond and Mrs Opie. At Lanivet we have Teaching Assistants who specialise in SEN, Autism, Dyslexia and Speech and Language. Lunchtimes are supervised by teaching assistants and lunchtime supervisors.
Mrs Michelle Doherty
Assistant Headteacher and Class 3 Teacher
Mrs Doherty has taught at Lanivet School since September 2003. She is the Assistant Headteacher and teaches Year 3. Mrs Doherty has a passion for maths and leads the subject in the school; she is also the joint maths hub lead for the Callywith Hub in TPAT. Mrs Doherty is one of Lanivet’s designated safeguarding officers.
Mrs Emmeline Purser
Mrs Purser has an Early Childhood degree from The University of Plymouth and a PGCE with a specialism in Early Years from The University of Exeter. She has been a teacher for 12 years, and has previously taught at Axminster Primary, Altarnun Primary and Wadebridge Primary Academy. She is the Reception teacher and leads EYFS, Art and Design Technology for the school. She provides a caring and nurturing environment where teaching and learning follow the children's interests and learning styles.
Miss Heidi Bowden
Class 1 Teacher and Computer Lead
Miss Bowden has a Sport Science and Health & Fitness degree from The University of Plymouth and a PGCE from Birmingham City University. She has been working with children in various settings since 2007 and is now entering her sixth year of teaching in Cornwall.
She is a kind and caring teacher and leads Computing for the school. She loves creating a fun, safe and engaging teaching environment whilst encouraging pupils to develop their independence.
She has two young primary age boys who also share her love for learning. The three off them spend lots of time together in the outdoors exploring and going for coastal walks.
Miss Samantha Haworth
Year 2 Teacher
Miss Haworth has a Business Management degree from The University of Plymouth and a PGCE from The University from St Mark and St John. She has been a teacher for five years, and has previously taught at Braddock C of E Primary School and St Martins C of E Primary School.
She is the Year 2 teacher and leads Science and Phonics for the school. She loves teaching in a fun and engaging way, and daily smiles and giggles are one of the rules in her class. Miss Haworth attended Lanivet School herself as a child, and loves being back where she started to carry on the love of learning she remembers.
Mrs Stacey Liddicoat
Year 4 Teacher
Mrs Liddicoat attained a Bachelor of Education degree in Primary Teaching and qualified in 2009. She taught at Carclaze Primary School for 9 years before moving to work at Lanivet in 2018.
She absolutely loves teaching and making sure all the children in her class are happy and enjoy being at school. Mrs Liddicoat loves to teach in a cross curricular way so that all her lessons link back to her class topic for the term.
As Mrs Liddicoat lives in the village with her family, she loves being able to help the children of the village and the local area find a love for learning.
Mr Mike Heard
Class 5 Teacher
Mr Heard has a Marine Geography degree from Cardiff University. He achieved qualified teacher status through the SCITT programme. He has been teaching at Lanivet School for seven years. Before that, he lived and worked in Taiwan for ten years teaching English.
Mr Heard leads Modern Foreign Languages and English for the school.
Mrs Faye Drake
Year 6 Teacher
Mrs Drake is enthusiastic, creative, kind and caring. She has a First Class Honours degree in Professional Practice with a specialism in children's services. Mrs Drake has worked within education for six years and absolutely loves being a teacher at Lanivet Primary School.
Miss Molly Sugg
Early Years Teaching Assistant
Miss Sugg has worked at Lanivet School for 6 years as an Early Years practitioner and an SEN one to one. She has a TIS (Trauma Informed Schools) qualification and has worked closely with children who have experienced trauma and who have been in foster care. Miss Sugg has attained a Level 4 in Childcare and Education and is currently studying an inclusive education degree. She has undertaken training in de-escalation, epilepsy, caring for the traumatised child and social communication needs.
Mrs Kiera Facer
Teaching Assistant and Dyslexia Specialist
Mrs Facer has worked at Lanivet school for 4 years and has an NVQ Level 3 Early Years Educator and an NVQ Level 3 Diploma Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. She has a real passion for Early Years and supports Mrs Purser in making the classroom a welcoming, happy and exciting place in which the children can learn, thrive and grow.
Mrs Tamsyn Symons
Mrs Symons has a Level 3 diploma in teaching and learning and is currently studying the Higher Level Teaching Assistant qualification, specialising in Art. She is a TIS (Trauma in Schools) practitioner and hold qualifications in child and adolescent mental health and counselling. She has been at Lanivet School for six years.
Miss Georgina Winter-Baker
Miss Winter-Baker is the teaching assistant for Fox Class.
Following her study of the IT Practitioner course at college, Miss Winter-Baker decided that she actually wanted to follow her passion for education. In September 201,7 she successfully applied for an apprenticeship at Lanivet School. After completing her Level 2 Diploma, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools she went on to obtain her Level 3 Diploma,.
Miss Winter-Baker is passionate about children's mental health and enjoys helping children progress throughout their developmental stages.
She came to this school herself as a child and her family have lived in the village for generations.
Mrs Julie Pond
Julie has worked in education for the past 25 years, initially supporting the teachers of the deaf and then specialising in Autism as a teaching assistant at Foxhole and Mawgan-in-Pydar schools . She has been part of the Lanivet School office team for ten years. She is married to a primary school teacher and has 3 grown-up children and a bouncy cocker spaniel. She always welcomes the children, parents, staff and visitors to Lanivet School with a smile.
