Special Educational Needs

"All pupils from all backgrounds, including those disabled or with special educational needs, make good progress throughout the school from their individual starting points. This is an inclusive school where additional support is expertly targeted to meet individual needs and supports the work being done in lessons, thus promoting equality of opportunity."

From September 2014 a new Code of Practice has to be followed by all educational establishments.  The changes to the Code of Practice have been described as the most sweeping for 30 years.

At Lanivet School we pride ourselves on our inclusive approach to school life and the support and intervention we provide for all children.

Fundamental to our approach is working with parents for the common good of the child.  There are now statutory expectations specified in the Code of Practice to ensure all schools have this approach.  Alongside this there has been a move to encourage greater partnership between agencies in supporting our children with obligations on Social Care and Health to contribute towards children’s supports and plans where appropriate.

All schools have to produce and publish their SEN Core Offer on their own website and in the LA service directory.  A link to Lanivet’s is at the bottom of the page.  Ours may also be found alongside all other schools on the LA website at

This page includes important attachments used within school and also links to specific websites which may provide further information.

However, if you still have questions unanswered please do contact the school for the support of your child is of paramount importance to us.

A list of SEN support websites for parents has been drawn up by Oxfordshire Local Authority and is available at:
