Year 2 Visit To Pendennis Castle

We would like to say a big thank you to the Cornwall Heritage Trust

for providing a grant to cover the cost of transportation for this trip.

When we arrived we were shown our Education Room for the day and then we had snack and a quick explore.

Our guide for the morning was Deb.  She told us the story of King Henry the Eighth and his first wife Catherine of Aragon, including Anne Boleyn, the King of Spain and the King of France.  We dressed up and acted it out.  Then we pretended to be soldiers in the castles at St Mawes and Pendennis defending Falmouth from the French and Spanish.

Then we returned to our room and Deb taught us about the castle.  We learnt about what it would have been like to live in Victorian times and then explored artefacts from that time.

Next, we saw what a soldier would've have worn.  It was very heavy armour!!

Finally, after lunch we explored the castle from top to bottom and walked down the tunnels to the Half Moon Battery.

We have to thank all the friendly and helpful staff at Pendennis Castle who made us feel very welcome and made it an amazing day.
