Autumn Term Topic Summary 2017
Firstly a big welcome to our new class 4!
In English we will follow the Hamilton scheme of work focusing on fables, non- chronological reports and creating images in poetry.
Maths will be following the Busy Ant scheme using objectives from the National Curriculum. This term we will focus on place value, addition & subtraction, properties of shape, multiplication & division and fractions.
In History we will find out about the Ancient Egyptians.
PE will be invasion games and this will be on Wednesdays so please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school at the beginning of the week. Swimming is also taking place on Monday afternoons.
In Science we will look at human nutrition, dentition and digestion. We will be working scientifically to set up enquiries and fair tests to investigate personal health, teeth and the digestive process.
R.E will be introducing Muslims.
In French we will learn about animals and food.
Art will be the making of 3D sculptures which will be linked to our history topic.
In ICT this term we will learn about esafety as well as the continuing development of our ICT skills across the curriculum.
Homework will be given out on Thursdays to be handed in the following Wednesday for marking. We have a reading reward system within school and pupils are expected to read at home at least 3 times a week and although it is acceptable for children to sign their own diaries when parents/carers are busy, we would ask for an adult to sign it at least once a week. Signed diaries are required for marking every Friday. Spellings and timetables will also be given out for pupils to learn at home for testing on Fridays.
