New Books!

We love reading stories in our class and we have been so lucky this year to recieve almost 100 carefully chosen books. Here is a selection of what has arrived so far. We now have a variety of texts from around the world for the children to enjoy and share. Many of the books have links to our school values and highlight how to keep our bodies, minds and planet healthy. We have already noticed the children are finding the books more engaging and we are able to use the books to support our learning in class and read just for fun! This is a great step towards developing a love of reading for life.

To introduce the different texts to the children we have a voting system in the morning and afternoon where, during registration, the children can chose between two books using cubes. This promotes engagement because the children want to hear the story they have chosen.

Watch this space for fundraising later in the year to add more books to our collection and improve our reading corner.

It's Good To Be Me

Welcome to school class of 2021. Each and every one of you is different and special.

This half term we have been learning about each other and settling into school. Through activities, discussions, songs and stories we have discovered more about our bodies and persionalities, how to be a good friend and talk about how we feel. It has also been a time explore the resources in our classroom and learn how to use them.

Amazing Autumn

This half term we have been observing autumn arrive. We have watched the leaves change colour and fall, noticed how the weather is changing and discovered how animals are preparing for the cold winter months arriving soon. Through discussions, stories, songs and activities the children have developed a curiosity to discover and learn more about the season themselves. We are so lucky to be able to venture out to our local woods right on our doorstep. Autumn is my favourite time of year where nature displays it's beauty for all to see. It's always a little sad when it comes to an end and the dark, wet, winter months arrive.

Christmas Celebrations

Meeting Santa

This was our second trip of the week, after already going to the theatre to see Cinderella at the Hall for Cornwall. We are so grateful to the local community who organised this free trip, to meet Santa and go on a steam train ride, from Bodmin train station. The children visited Santa in his Victorian carriage before boarding the steam train for a fun filled trip with cookies and drinks. They then wrote chistmas letters and followed the ride on the map. Shortly after, Santa appeared as a surprise, to chat with the children and sing Christmas tunes. A great trip out and such good behaiour. Well done Dolphin Class.

Fused Glass Workshop

What lucky children to have our very own local artist visit Dolphin Class to share her work as fused glass artist and take part in a Christmas decoration making workshop.

Kirstyn Smyth lives close to the Lanivet village and has a daughter in our class this year. Although very busy at this time of year Kirstyn and her husband Liam helped the children create wonderful fused glass trees and the children listened to how she creates her pieces in her workshop.
